The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Owensboro will open the application period for its “This Little Light”  mini-grant on Jan. 18.

The community mini-grant program was initiated in an Adult Religious Education program in 2009 to assist local projects working on issues of homelessness, literacy, domestic violence, or hunger.

The first grant was given in 2010. Last year, the congregation added a call for projects that will address bullying, particularly bullying in school. This is an outgrowth of concerns raised by area youth during Faith Fest in 2018.

Grants are not for general operating expenses or annual budget, salaries, or personal relief. They are intended to give a little push to a special project or to expand a mission into a new area of service. Individuals and organizations may apply for a grant of $500.

Applications will be accepted Jan. 18 – Feb. 29. Visit www.uuowensboro.org or contact Richard Simon (415-203-4023, Congregational President) for details and an application packet.

Last year the grant was given to the Third Baptist Youth Support Group for leadership development, suicide prevention training, and new programming.
