Saving Paws Animal Rescue of Kentucky (SparKY) is hosting its 8th annual Easter Bone Hunt from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ben Hawes Park.

Last year’s hunt was cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic.

The event field will be loaded with a selection of dog toys and treats and people can hunt with their canine for $10 per dog. Dogs must be up to date on vaccines and remain on a leash at all times.

Dream Copy Photography will be offering spring pet photos for $20. There’s a limit of one dog per photo session.

People who want to hunt bones and have a photo can get both for $25.

The hunts are in heats of 10 to 20 dogs at a time and the field is restocked between heats. Each heat is about 10 minutes.

Volunteer John Austin said the dog and its owner can choose what toys and treats to take home.

Toys and treats are donated from various community members, organizations and businesses. Some of the toys are saved from previous years if they are not used during the Easter Bone Hunt.

All proceeds go to SparKY, a no-kill animal rescue.
