The annual Whitesville Fireworks Show is slated for Friday at the Whitesville Park. This year’s celebration marks the 14th year for the event that features live music, food vendors, inflatables, and more.

While City Hall orchestrates the event, but Whitesville Mayor Patsy Mayfield said several community businesses assist with the cost. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the local schools.

“This is a family fun night that brings the community together,” Mayfield said. “The show is excellent. It typically lasts 45 minutes, and you can see it all across the county’s east side.”

Food vendors will begin serving at 5 p.m., while inflatables and music will begin at 6 p.m. The fireworks will commence shortly after dusk.

Mayfield encourages spectators to bring their lawn chairs and arrive early to secure a good spot. She said thousands were in attendance last year, a number she hopes will continue to grow.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase the park; we’ve really put a lot of work into it,” she said. “I’m not sure how many people we can squeeze in there, but they keep coming and finding a space.”
