The Owensboro Symphony’s annual Concert on the Lawn returns Saturday with the theme “Adventure Under the Stars.” This year’s event will feature Lauren Jelencovich performing selections from Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Enchanted. Highlights for the evening will include music from Mulan, Hook, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Aladdin.
The free concert, sponsored annually by U.S. Bank, will begin at 7 p.m. on the front lawn of Kentucky Wesleyan College (3000 Frederica Street). The community is encouraged to pack a picnic, put on comfortable clothes, grab their lawn chairs and blankets, and arrive early for family fun and activities beginning at 5:30 p.m.
“Concert on the Lawn has become an annual summer tradition and I hope everyone will join us for an ‘Adventure Under the Stars’ with the Owensboro Symphony,” said the Symphony Music Director Troy Quinn. “This year we are delighted to bring Lauren Jelencovich.”
Jelencovich has garnered acclaim for her portrayals of opera and musical theater roles throughout the United States and abroad. She is currently on a world tour with Yanni as his featured vocalist. She is featured on his album Inspirato alongside artists such as Placido Domingo, Renee Fleming, Rolando Villazon and more.
Featured in People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People and Teen Magazine, Jelencovich was a grand prize winner on Ed McMahon’s Star Search and the recipient of Andrea Bocelli’s National Italian American Foundation World Scholarship.
