Artists including Grammy-nominated Point of Grace, Dove Award-nominated Cochren & Co., and rising star Tasha Layton.

Scheduled from 5-8 p.m., First Fridays at the Hall of Fame is a free event featuring food trucks,  activities for children, and live music. The Hall of Fame will sell concessions, but this will be an  alcohol-free concert series creating a family friendly environment for people of all ages. Seating will  not be provided, so attendees need to bring their own chair or blanket. No outside coolers permitted.

Point of Grace will perform June 3, Cochren & Co. will perform July 1, and Tasha Layton will perform Aug. 5.

“We work hard to present music with a mission and want everything we do under the Hall of Fame banner to have a tangible impact on our community and beyond,” said Chris Joslin, Executive Director of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum. “Friday After 5 is an important part of the rhythm of Owensboro, and we are excited to participate this year offering something unique that will contribute to the ongoing growth of the summer-long event.”

Point of Grace has garnered two Platinum records, three Grammy nominations, 27 No. 1 singles and numerous Dove Awards. The trio has released 10 best-selling studio recordings.

Cochren & Co. will also feature vocalist Michael Cochren who is known for blending the lines between soul, blues, American pop, and rock. This Dove Award nominated group is touring coast to coast performing songs from their latest record Don’t Lose Hope.

Tasha Layton has been referred to as one of the fastest rising stars in Christian music. After singing backup several years with Katy Perry, Layton relocated to Nashville in 2018, landing her first radio hit in 2019. Her second radio single elevated her into the Billboard Top 5 Female Christian Artists in 2020.

Francine Marseille,  Executive Director of Friday After 5, said she’s excited to partner with the Hall of Fame to offer quality faith-based music.

“We couldn’t be more honored to have Chris Joslin as a partner as we work together to cultivate the desires of our community,” she said. “Adding First Fridays entertainment to Friday After 5’s new Spirit on the River is a perfect fit.”

Joslin added, “I look for ways to feature Christian artists because gospel music is an important part of bluegrass music. Leveraging our outdoor stage during Friday After 5 makes a lot of sense and featuring contemporary Christian music artists fits our organization’s culture.”

First Fridays at the Hall of Fame is a free concert series made possible by the generosity of Castlen  Steel, Larry & Lamone Mayfield, Gary & Meg Boswell, Bill Barron Real Estate, Steve & Peggi Clark,  Whitesville Knights of Columbus, and a private donor on behalf of Grace Christian Academy.
