Symphony concludes 57th season with Saturday concert feature renowned flutist Jim Walker

The Owensboro Symphony will conclude its 57th season with the “Whimsical Walton & Walker” concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the RiverPark Center. Joining the orchestra is world-renowned flutist Jim Walker.

The concert will feature a wide array of musical selections from Mozart, John Williams, Henry Mancini. Musical selections include The Face of Pan from movie Hook and Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz.

Walker, a dynamic soloist as well as a studio and orchestral musician, played in the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, the Pittsburgh Symphony, New York Philharmonic Tour of 1982, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. His bold and expressive playing can be heard on over 700 motion picture soundtracks and commercial recordings.

Behind the Music Concert attendees are encourage to join Symphony Director Troy Quinn in Cannon Hall from 6:15-6:40 p.m. for a special behind-the-music pre-concert conversation about the performance. This program, designed to enhance the concert experience, will provide insights into the music and music-makers performing on the program.

Tickets start at $50 and are available by phone at 270-684-0661 and at the RiverPark Center Box Office at 101 Daviess Street, Owensboro. Student tickets are $16 each.
