2022 fall semester of bluegrass music lessons to begin Oct. 1; registration open now

The fall session of music lessons at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum begins Oct. 1 and will run every other Saturday through Dec. 10. The program is designed to make bluegrass music more accessible to all who are interested in learning to play an instrument.

The Hall of Fame will have a limited number of instruments available to loan to students that do not have their own. These are available on a first come-first served basis. There is a $50 deposit required up front to receive an instrument for classes. This deposit is refundable once the instrument is returned in good condition. 

Class descriptions:

10 a.m. – Beginner Fiddle, Guitar, or Mandolin (Ages 8-11)

This class is designed for complete beginners and no skills or knowledge of the instrument is needed. Students will learn about their instruments while learning simple songs to play.

11 a.m. – Beginner Fiddle, Guitar, or Mandolin (Ages 12 & Up)

This class is designed for complete beginners and no skills or knowledge of the instrument is needed. Students will learn about their instruments while learning simple songs to play.

12 p.m. – Intermediate Fiddle or Guitar (Ages 12 & Up)

Must have basic knowledge of instrument, how to tune and read chords for guitar and tab for fiddle. You will learn how to play in with others, and this class will move at a medium pace.

12 p.m. – Beginner Banjo (Ages 12 & Up)

This class is designed for complete beginners and no skills or knowledge of the instrument is needed. Students will learn about their instruments while learning simple songs to play.

1 p.m. – Band Class All Instruments (Ages 8 & Up)

Must have basic knowledge of instrument, how to tune and read chord charts and tab. You will learn how to play in a band with other instruments and this class will move at a faster pace. We will also study instrument technique, jamming, understanding keys, using a capo, cord changes, etc.
