The Kentucky Youth Chorale, a children’s chorus based in Owensboro, is currently accepting applications and auditioning for the 2022-2023 season.

The chorus, for ages 8-18, has performed both nationally and internationally, including in Washington D.C., Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and Canterbury Cathedral in England.

Director Madison Wells said this ensemble provides students with an in-depth music education that will enhance their music reading skills, vocal technique and musicality. Applications can be submitted online at Kentuckyyouthchorale.org.

Pam Howell, KYC Preparatory Choir Director, said members of KYC will strengthen their singing skills and abilities by learning proper techniques.

“Our tradition of excellence has allowed our singers to perform extraordinary music in venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and cathedrals throughout Europe and the United States,” she said.

Mendy Rue, parent of a KYC student, said the chorus group has been amazing for her daughter, Ellie.

“She started when she was 7 and has tremendously grown as a singer,” Rue said. “She has been involved in so many special events that she would never have experienced otherwise. The directors continuously challenge young singers to be their best. It is an opportunity you do not want to pass up.”
