Daviess County Public Schools on Tuesday announced their “Kids First” award winners, honoring three Teachers of the Year along with one Customer Service and one Support Professional staff member. The awards recognize “outstanding staff members who exemplify the highest ideals of the DCPS mission.”
According to a release from DCPS, the Teacher of the Year awards showcase those who exemplify characteristics including “a passion for teaching and learning, a student-centered approach to all they do, an ability to develop and maintain positive relationships, a commitment to a growth mindset, and a dedicated team-player attitude.”
This year’s award recipients are:
2023 Elementary School Teacher of the Year
Maggie Jagoe – Country Heights Elementary School (Jagoe served as a teacher at East View Elementary School at the time of the award nomination and selection.)
2023 Middle School Teacher of the Year Award
Mendy Rue – College View Middle School
2023 High School Teacher of the Year Award
Krystal Phelps – Daviess County High School
The Kids First Support Professional and Customer Service awards honor individuals “who showcase kindness, dependability, and an exemplary way of making families and students feel welcome, challenging students to do their best,” according to the release.
