Rob Jenkins became a licensed barber in 2017, opening 2.0 Barber Studio on Frederica Street in 2018. After exponential growth and to give more up-and-coming barbers a place to work, he’s moved the location to 3000 Alvey Park Drive, just off KY 54.

“Everything we did at the old location, we do here,” Jenkins said. “We have more barbers, and we needed more opportunities for them. Another goal behind this was for Owensboro to have a massive barber shop where people could come in for a more efficient haircut experience.”

With several barbers in the shop, Jenkins said the new location could accommodate appointments and walk-ins. He added that the steady growth of KY 54 also played a role in the move.

“There’s so much out here, but not much in the way of barber shops,” he said.

Jenkins said the shop offers standard cuts, shaves, beard trims, bald fades, and nearly any other barber service. For 2.0, however, it’s all about quality over quantity.

“We like to take our time and provide a better product. The haircuts cost a little more, so you would assume we spend more time on the process,” Jenkins said. “We’re not looking for the people where a haircut is an inconvenience for them, getting one once a month. We want to offer someone style. The industry is always changing, and our team constantly learns new styles and trends.”

With an emphasis on innovation, Jenkins said 2.0 could accommodate any client, offering various cut and style options.

“We want to create an environment that’s best for everyone,” he said. “A place where an older gentleman, a young guy, a high school kid, or a family can come in for a cut. We’re shooting for a family-friendly environment – not one specific genre.”

Jenkins added that the shop has talented barbers committed to providing superior customer service. With more visibility, he said the move to KY 54 creates more opportunities for the crew to develop a clientele.

“We have a wide range of barbers from younger to older,” he said. “We have some who have been doing it for a long time and some who are just getting into it.”
