Ernest Milton Ford began E.M. Ford Insurance as a sole proprietor in 1925. Nearly a century later, the agency continues to serve Owensboro and surrounding communities.

In those almost 100 years, E.M. Ford has grown to more than 30 employees in offices in Owensboro and Henderson and evolved to offer commercial insurance, personal insurance, employee benefits, and financial planning.

The company recently moved from its historic home on Frederica Street — which has the iconic sassafras tree in the front yard — to a state-of-the-art downtown location. The new office is just across the street from Brescia University at 600 Frederica Street.

“We love our new space downtown,” said director of marketing and branding Somer Weaver. “The vibrance is infectious, and we enjoy the ability to walk to a local coffee shop, cafe, or even to enjoy our beautiful riverfront.

The agency offers insurance, risk management, and financial planning expertise and solutions for individuals, families, and businesses. Weaver said the company’s Producers use an exclusive RiskGuide process to provide tailored solutions to clients.

“Our mission at E.M. Ford is simple: to protect your assets, secure your future, and provide you the peace of mind you deserve,” Ford said. “We can bring expertise, energy, and curiosity to our client’s complex insurance and financial situations.”

E.M. Ford is a fourth-generation, family-owned business eager to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025. Weaver said the team takes great pride in being part of the Owensboro community and appreciates the community’s continuous support.

“We are very proud of our team that encompasses a wonderful mix of experience and youth,” said fourth-generation partner Clay Ford. “We believe we are here to make a positive impact and remain excited about the future of Owensboro. We want to continue actively participating in the community’s growth and support the many wonderful nonprofit organizations bringing so much value to their clients.”
