Dog lovers will have a chance to experience the innovative and artistic world of competitive dog grooming during a 3-day expo this May. With educational workshops and interactive experiences, the event is a platform for pet lovers, groomers, and industry professionals to converge and celebrate the beauty of dogs.
The inaugural expo is being put on by RWGroomX at the Owensboro Convention Center. The event will be free and open to the public.
Organizers promise the expo will be a haven for dog enthusiasts and owners alike, boasting creative grooming competitions, expert demonstrations, and cutting-edge dog trims reminiscent of those seen at Westminster.
“I’m excited to bring this new event to Owensboro, and we have high expectations,” said event organizer Ralph Whitman.” This event holds prestige as it is a sanctioned competition by the Groom Team USA, highlighting its significance in the grooming community.”
The event schedule includes:
Friday, May 17
- 9 a.m.: Wire coat demonstrations showcasing hand-stripping techniques for breeds like Westies, Schnauzers, and Terriers.
- 9 a.m.: Clipper Classic sponsored by Wahl, displaying artistic hair clipper handling.
- 2 p.m.: All Other Purebred category offering insights into grooming techniques for various AKC-registered dog breeds.
Saturday, May 18
- 9 a.m.: Sporting breeds presentation featuring trims tailored for hunting breeds.
- 9 a.m.: Salon Free Style showcasing unique and stylish grooming trims.
- 2 p.m.: Poodle grooming class highlighting top-tier grooming abilities.
Sunday, May 19
- 10 a.m.: Creative Tag Team Challenge, a groundbreaking event where two competitors groom, airbrush, and style simultaneously.
- 2 p.m.: Best in Show Awards ceremony crowning the top competitors.
