Alondra Johnson has been named the new executive director of CASA of Ohio Valley. She succeeds Ashley Evans-Smith, who served in the role since 2021.

Johnson brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served at CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) since 2020 as program manager and advocate supervisor.

“I am incredibly passionate about serving children and making a positive difference in their lives,” Johnson said. “To me, advocating for children is more than just a job — it’s a calling that drives me every day. I firmly believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported, especially those who are facing difficult and often unimaginable circumstances. My work allows me to be a voice for these children, ensuring their needs are met. I am committed to creating brighter futures, not only by advocating for their immediate needs but by fostering hope and stability that can impact them for years to come.”

Johnson added, “It’s truly an honor to be part of an organization like CASA, where I can contribute to meaningful change and inspire others in the community to join in our mission to protect and uplift the lives of our most vulnerable youth.”

CASA board chair Brandon Gentry said they were thrilled for Johnson to lead the organization.

“Her passion for child advocacy and extensive experience with our organization make her the ideal candidate to lead CASA of Ohio Valley into its next chapter,” he said.

In a release, the board also expressed its gratitude to outgoing Executive Director Ashley Evans-Smith for her leadership, dedication, and contributions to the organization over the past three years.

“As CASA of Ohio Valley looks to the future, the organization is confident that under Johnson’s leadership, it will continue to provide vital advocacy services for children in the Ohio Valley region and reach new heights in its mission to serve those in need of their services,” the board said in the release.

CASA is hosting its annual Holiday Open House on December 12th from 4:30-7 p.m. at their office at 608 Frederica Street. They invite the community to learn more about their mission and ways to become involved.

According to the release, CASA of Ohio Valley is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the family court system. CASA volunteers are appointed by Daviess, McLean, Hancock, and Ohio counties’ Family Court Judges to advocate for the child’s best interests. They stay with each case until it is closed and the child is in a safe, permanent home. CASA volunteers serve children from birth through the age of 18.
