Habitat for Humanity of Owensboro-Daviess County is transforming mini golf into a mission with its inaugural “Holes to Homes” fundraiser. This two-day event, happening January 3-4 at Kentucky Wesleyan College, features an 18-hole putt-putt course built by local businesses, offering everything from family-friendly play to a lively 21+ night — all in the name of building homes and hope for the community.
Holes to Homes will be held at the KWC’s Jack T. Wells Activity Center at 3300 Frederica Street.
The event will kick off Friday with a scramble tournament from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Teams of four can compete for prizes while enjoying games, costume contests, and other surprises. Later that day, open play from 3 to 8 p.m. will welcome players of all ages, with concessions, music, and photo opportunities adding to the fun.
Saturday begins with VIP play from 10 a.m. to noon, during which time the course is reserved for families with financial needs, including Habitat homeowners and others served by local nonprofits. Open play resumes from 1 to 6 p.m., again featuring concessions, music, and photo ops. The day will conclude with a 21-and-over session from 7 to 11 p.m., featuring DJ Shay, a cash bar, and exclusive activities for adults.
Tickets for open play are $10 for students and $15 for adults, while scramble teams can register for $125. Tickets are available for purchase in advance here or at the door.
“This event is going to be great for our community in so many ways,” said Jeremy Stephens, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Owensboro-Daviess County. “Not only is it offering safe, family fun for all, but it gives local businesses a chance to showcase their brand in a unique way. I was amazed by the interest in the businesses, organizations, churches, etc. in this new event. So many were excited to not only contribute monetarily but in the design and construction of a putting green to be used in the fundraiser. This is truly indicative of what Habitat does every day: people coming together to serve others in building homes, communities, and hope.”
The course will feature creative holes designed by a variety of sponsors.
“This inaugural, and soon to be annual, event is an effort to fundraise, like any other nonprofit, but we believe we created something different,” said Dr. David Danhauer, Habitat Board Chair. “This event will be fun for all ages and backgrounds and will allow Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County to ‘Putt up’ a house.”
