Harbor Freight, a discount tool and equipment store, will be opening a location in Owensboro in January 2019. The company has been granted a permit to construct a building at 5079 Frederica Street, the previous location of Don Moore Hyundai, which relocated to Highway 54 earlier this year.
According to Philip Koumvakalis, Project Manager at Permit Advisors Inc. in California, Harbor Freight will demolish the existing structure and build a 15,107 sq. ft. pre-engineered metal building in its place.
Harbor Freight, whose tagline is “quality tools at ridiculously low prices” was started in 1977 as a small family-owned business. According to the company’s website, “Harbor Freight offers more than 7,000 tools and accessories at quality levels that match or exceed competing brands, but at prices that are up to 80% less.”
The company has 900 stores in the U.S., including stores recently built in Elizabethtown and Hopkinsville.
