Kelsey and Gage Hocker are Owensboro natives and high school sweethearts. After more than 10 years together, the two decided to create their own business — One Stop Hocker Shop — after combining their love of woodworking, design and homemade gifts.

Gage has been woodworking for more than 11 years and Kelsey said design has been a passion of hers for as long as she can recall.

“We love to give homemade gifts for holidays, or birthdays, or even wedding gifts,” Kelsey said. “Every time we would make something, there would always be someone wanting us to make another one just like it for them. We had so many different requests, we realized we had the opportunity to start something pretty great that allowed us to do something we were very passionate about.”

Their most popular creations are door hangers, name puzzles, milestone chalkboards, cornhole boards and home decor items.

Kelsey said the pair invested in a CNC router, which is a computer-controlled cutting machine, and some other equipment that would allow them to be a one-stop shop for all personalized home decor needs.

“There isn’t much we can’t make,” Kelsey said. “This isn’t just a small business for us, it’s a lifestyle. We’re doing what we love, with the people we love, every single day. We are so grateful for all of the support we’ve received from our community and are so excited to see what the future holds.”

While they relocated to Newburgh, Ind., a few years ago, the majority of their business comes from Owensboro.

One Stop Hocker Shop can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and Etsy.
