Studio Slant

After 10 years of selling gifts, home goods and local art to the community, Studio Slant is passing the gift-giving and wedding registry baton over to locally owned Julep Home and Gift, which will open their doors next week.

Studio Slant’s last day open to the public is Friday, and they plan to go out the same way they started — loving local and supporting their community.

Sisters Christy Chaney and Katherine Thomson founded Studio Slant, and the duo said they have enjoyed tremendous support and made lifelong friends while wrapping and delivering gifts throughout the community.

“Studio Slant came out of the gate with a love for all things Owensboro,” Thomson said. “We supported the makers, the artists, the nonprofits, downtown and all of their events. It was an honor for us to serve you and this last local push really does sum up how much we love this town.”

This Friday, Studio Slant will go out just as they started, with one more gift to the community.

From 4:30-5:30 p.m., any nonprofit may bring their donation paperwork to Studio Slant at 624 Emory Drive and pick up a silent auction item for future events, while supplies last. There is a limited number of auction items and it is first-come, first-serve.

“We were raised to shop local first and we have carried that mantra into our adult life,” Chaney said. “We live in an amazing community who supported us, cheered for us and invited us into their lives during their biggest moments. It has been an incredible 10 years, and this last hour of our last day we needed to pay it forward to the town we call home.”

Julep Home and Gift will be located in the former Excursions space at 2738 Wesleyan Park Plaza under the ownership of Owensboro residents and mother-daughter duo Sharon and Elizabeth Wilson.

Julep cannot accept gift certificates nor returns for items purchased at Studio Slant.
