Wheatgrass Juice Bar is starting the new year off with the official grand opening of their second location next to Pure Barre in Wesleyan Park Plaza this Saturday, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. The owners are also excited for the launch of their app, making the ordering process more convenient for customers.

When Connor Minogue purchased the business in April of this year, expansion was already in the back of his mind. But he and his business partner Jared Bradley have been mindful in the long-term direction they want to take the company.

“We’ve talked about from the beginning, what’s the future of a juice bar? It’s not always gonna be the whole West Coast feel of things,” Bradley said. “We aren’t trying to be a health store. We don’t want to alienate people by being just a healthy place. We just want to be seen as a great place to go get guilt-free treats, whether it is savory or sweet.”

The menu is highlighted by their renowned made-from-scratch juices and smoothies that feature a plethora of fresh fruit and vegetables. The menu also boasts salad, wraps, and viva bowls, as well as the new hit item Chinatown tacos.

“Our food will energize you — it will give you the ability to go out and seize the day,” Minogue said earlier this year. “There are people that go out into this community and make a difference every day. We want to be the place that they can go to re-energize.”

The first Wheatgrass location is at 3500 Villa Point, just of KY 54. The duo said with the second spot, they wanted to be more centrally located and more accessible.

With the opening of the new location, Bradley and Minogue are excited to unveil their app that allows customers to pay, order ahead, and get delivery.

“It competes with some of the bigger franchises,” Bradley said. “It’s nice, easy, clean. So we’re really excited about that.”

Minogue said “It’s actually better than Starbucks.”

Both Wheatgrass locations open at 5:30 a.m. Mondays through Fridays and at 7:30 a.m. Saturdays, closing at 6 p.m. each day. They are closed on Sundays.

Minogue is a native of England and moved here in 2011 to attend Brescia University, where he graduated in 2015. He met his wife and Owensboro native Dashia at the university, and the two have five children together.

He met his business partner, Bradley, while working as a server at the Bistro during his college years. The two are elated to call Owensboro home.

“I told Jared 2-3 years ago that we should begin a juice bar. He shot me down initially, but now he’s stuck,” Minogue said earlier this year. “This is a fantastic place to live and operate a business and I think more and more young people are beginning to realize that. There’s a misnomer out there that young people think it’s boring here — that’s simply not true.”
