Will Craig, a recently retired Social Security employee of 25 years, has started his own consultation business: The Social Security Advisor. The business provides all manner of Social Security-related services with the adding goal of providing a personal touch throughout the process.

Services offered include retirement counseling; assistance filing online claims for Social Security retirement, disability, and Medicare; and helping file disability appeals or completing forms and questionnaires.

Craig began his career as a junior at Kentucky Wesleyan College when he got an internship with the Owensboro Social Security office. He was employed as a Claims Specialist for the next 16 years, processing applications for entitlement, which included retirement, disability, widow’s benefits, and Medicare. Craig finished his career as a Technical Expert, where he conducted training as well as investigated program fraud and misuse.

“While there, I felt there was a need in the community for people to receive services without the time constraints associated with the agency,” he said. “My hope is that I can fill that void with a more personal touch.”

Now, Craig wants to use the knowledge that he acquired to give back to the community. Throughout his career with the agency, he saw a need for services for those that needed further clarification on Social Security policy, or perhaps just needed help completing complex agency forms.

“If you’re in the unfortunate situation of having to file for Social Security disability, I can help,” he said.
