U.S. Bank is closing its branch on Frederica Street in late January including the home mortgage offices, and will be selling the entire site. A company official said they do not anticipate a reduction in staff, as employees will be relocated to other locations.

The banking portion of the branch, located at 4801 Frederica Street, will close January 25.

Regarding the closing of the branch, Vice President of Public Affairs & Corporate Communications Evan A. Lapiska told Owensboro Times via email:

Customers’ banking preferences and behaviors are changing, including a rapid migration toward digital and mobile banking platforms, and a desire for greater simplicity. As we evolve along with our customers, we are reevaluating our physical footprint, and in some instances, consolidating branch locations in select markets.

Customers received notification in early October that the Southtown KY branch at 4801 Frederica St. would close on January 25, 2023. We understand that the closure of any branch is a disruption for our customers and our employees and we are working to make the transition as smooth as possible for all involved. This branch location does not have safe deposit boxes.

We are proud of our history in Owensboro and the relationship we have with our customers, employees and the local community, and we look forward to continuing to serve our customers through our other locations in the area, including the New Hartford and Carter branches that are both approximately three miles away, along with our convenient digital and voice offerings.

Regarding the rest of the building, which includes home mortgage offices, Lapiska said:

We have decided to move our staff in our 4801 Frederica Street building to other locations that we have long-term leases on within the Owensboro community, and we plan to sell the site. This decision is part of an ongoing review of real estate across our network, and we are optimistic about the opportunity to have our teams work together more closely. Most importantly, this is a relocation and we do not anticipate any reductions in staffing levels with this move.

The property contains two buildings, both built in 1970. The building closest to Frederica Street is 80,100 square feet, while the second building is 30,600 square feet.
