U.S. Bank is closing another Owensboro branch in the coming months. The downtown location at 700 Frederica Street will close on April 25. As previously reported, the location at 4801 Frederica Street will permanently close January 25, including the home mortgage offices there.

Evan A. Lapiska, Vice President of Public Affairs & Corporate Communications, told Owensboro Times via email that customers received notification in early January that the 700 Frederica Street branch would be closing.

“We understand that the closure of any branch is a disruption for our customers and our employees and we are working to make the transition as smooth as possible for all involved,” Lapiska said. “This branch location does not have safe deposit boxes.”

Regarding the branch at 4801, Lapiska previously told Owensboro Times that U.S. Bank does not anticipate a reduction in staff, as employees will be relocated to other locations. The company will be selling the entire site.

“This decision is part of an ongoing review of real estate across our network, and we are optimistic about the opportunity to have our teams work together more closely,” Lapiska said. “Most importantly, this is a relocation and we do not anticipate any reductions in staffing levels with this move.”

The property contains two buildings, both built in 1970. The building closest to Frederica Street is 80,100 square feet, while the second building is 30,600 square feet.

Regarding the closing of both sites, Lapiska said:

“Customers’ banking preferences and behaviors are changing, including a rapid migration toward digital and mobile banking platforms, and a desire for greater simplicity. As we evolve along with our customers, we are reevaluating our physical footprint, and in some instances, consolidating branch locations in select markets. … We are proud of our history in Owensboro and the relationship we have with our customers, employees and the local community, and we look forward to continuing to serve our customers through our other locations in the area.” including the New Hartford and Carter Road branches that are both approximately two miles away, along with our convenient digital and voice offerings.”
