The Owensboro Youth Empowerment Summit is hosting a job fair on April 22, with several local companies looking to fill a variety of openings. Local college representatives will also be on site to offer guidance about higher education opportunities.

The job fair will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 22 at the Party Space Place, located at 5010 Wildcat Way.

Temporary, part-time and full-time employment opportunities will be available, as well as the chance for in-person interviews.

OYES Chairperson DeMarcus Curry said he put the job fair together after noticing that numerous employers in the area were looking to hire. After holding a job fair last fall, Curry received several calls and emails from companies who wanted to attend the next event.

“Everyone is having a hard time finding employees right now,” Curry said. “I think part of the problem is laziness. Everyone got a stimulus check, so they feel like they don’t need to work. There’s nothing wrong with getting a stimulus, but you want to keep yourself in good shape for the future.”

Curry said staffing agencies such as 323 Staffing, Innovating Staffing and Express Employment will be in attendance, while full-time employers on site will include Timesavers Kentucky, LaCosta Facility Support Services, and CRS OneSource.

Representatives from Kentucky Wesleyan College, Brescia University and Owensboro Community & Technical College will also be present to discuss higher education options.

Those planning to attend should bring copies of their resume and dress in business attire.

Other companies interested in participating can contact Curry at 270-314-5263 or [email protected], or send a message to the Owensboro Youth Empowerment Summit Facebook Page
