Healthy Habits Expo

Edge Body Boot Camp is hosting its first Healthy Habits Expo on Saturday to encourage people to get healthy and active, while also raising money for an Owensboro woman who is battling breast cancer.

Chris Zachary, Training Director for Edge Body Boot Camp, said the expo is geared toward raising money for bootcamper Kim Howard who is battling breast cancer. While the event is free, they are asking for a $5 donation to get into the expo to help raise money.

Howard has been a boot camp member since the beginning of 2020. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in March of this year and is still going through treatment.

“Throughout the 9 years that we have been in business we have raised over $20,000 for local charities and groups in our Owensboro community,” Zachary said. “In addition to dollars raised we have donated over 50,000 meals to the Owensboro community through canned food drives and our Get Fit Give back camps, where it is free to attend with the donation of a non-perishable food item.”

With more than 15 vendors and two food trucks attending, there will be something for everyone at the expo.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 4010 Frederica St.

Vendors attending the Healthy Habits Expo are:

  • Baking Blessings
  • Beautycounter
  • Buff City Soap
  • Legends
  • Be Real Sports and Cycling
  • Crave Nutrition
  • Zyia Active
  • Bonnie Rae Boutique
  • Grindstone Trading Company
  • Cryotherapy
  • Faster Way to Fat Loss with Sammi Roberts
  • Pure Barre
  • Yoga with Ericka Roberts
  • Stalling Chiropractic
  • Syd’s Plants
  • J’s Good Grub
  • Kona Ice Company

Zachary said this expo is their way of gathering local small businesses with like-minded ideas of health and wellness together to show Owensboro how many different options there are.

The team at Edge Body is hoping to make this an annual event.

“We truly have everything that you could look for in starting a healthy journey,” Zachary said. “Part of being healthy is being healthy at home and comfortable in what you wear and how you feel.”

The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center bloodmobile will also be on site taking blood donations.

Zachary said while Owensboro has a lot of events and festivals, there is nothing that showcases local healthy businesses as well as small businesses that live with that mindset.
