Pedestrian struck by vehicle, portion of Frederica closed

Update from OPD:

Just before 8:30 pm on Saturday, August 18th, 2018, the Owensboro Police Department was dispatched to an accident with injuries at Frederica Street and College Drive. The accident involved a vehicle and an adult male on a bicycle.

Due to what are believed to be serious but non-life threatening injuries to the bicyclist, an accident reconstruction was requested. Frederica Street was closed Southbound for an extended period of time and the investigation is ongoing.

According to the Owensboro Police Department, southbound Frederica is currently closed from Byers to Fountain Square and will remain closed for the next couple of hours after a vehicle struck a pedestrian. This section of Frederica will remain closed while officers reconstruct the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.

The driver was not believed to be injured.

Officers are conducting a thorough investigation, however, it is believed to have been an accident.
