Anthony Ehram, 27, accepted a plea deal from the Daviess County grand jury after a single-vehicle car accident, in which Ehram was the driver, killed 25 year-old passenger Acastino Demarlane.

An Owensboro man was sentenced to ten years in prison for second-degree manslaughter Friday morning following a May 2018 car accident that killed one passenger and left two others injured.

Anthony Ehram, 27, accepted a plea deal from the Daviess County grand jury after a single-vehicle car accident, in which Ehram was the driver, killed 25 year-old passenger Acastino Demarlane.

Ehram was traveling east on the Wendell Ford Expressway at 3:32 a.m. on May 27 when his vehicle hit a median, and then a guardrail. Ehram’s vehicle went over the guardrail and slid down an embankment. During the accident, Ehram’s passenger, Demarlane, was ejected from the vehicle. Demarlane was later pronounced dead at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

Ehram was arrested and charged with DUI, manslaughter and wanton endangerment charges.

Daviess Commonwealth’s Attorney Bruce Kuegel said Ehram will have to serve 20 percent of his sentence before he’s eligible to be considered for parole.

Aside from the manslaughter charge, Ehram accepted a plea bargain for two counts of wanton endangerment as well, which all go toward the ten-year sentence.

Demarlane’s sister, who lives in Bowling Green, testified before Circuit Court Judge Jay Wethington, the grand jury and Ehram’s defense before Ehram was sentenced. Her testimony was taken into consideration before Ehram’s final sentencing was issued.
