Man arrested for attempted bank robbery on east side

According to a news release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, at 9:07 a.m. Wednesday, their office and Owensboro Police Department responded to an attempted robbery at South Central Bank, located at 3010 Highway 54.

A male suspect entered the bank and asked to speak to a teller about opening a new account. While speaking with the teller, the male suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Thomas Spuehler, said “give me all your money” to the clerk. Spuehler made the same statement a second time before leaving the bank without any money.

DCSO located Spuehler sitting in front of the bank, where he was placed under arrest. According to the release, the suspect admitted to the accusations and was arrested for second degree robbery.
