Around 10 p.m. Saturday night, crews from Daviess County, East Daviess County, Thurston and Whitesville Fire Departments were called to a home in the 3300 block of Pleasant Valley Road. When they arrived, the property’s detached garage was fully involved and the roof was gone.

Tommy Johnson, Assistant Chief of the Thruston Fire Department, said that the call actually came from someone seeing the fire and smoke from Highway 142 and because it was the garage, which had vehicles, lawnmowers and flammable items, the fire took until 1 a.m. to extinguish.

The homeowners are on vacation, so the Red Cross was not needed and no one was injured. The home sustained no damage.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
