Junior League of Owensboro is holding a fundraiser this weekend for HANDS (Health Access Nurturing Development Services) and is asking the community to donate various items toward their cause. In exchange for donations, Junior League will offer free cookies and photos with Santa.

Needed items for this fundraiser include wipes, diapers, bottles, onesies, blankets, wash cloths, bath toys, burp cloths, bibs, pacifiers, lotion, body wash and shampoo, socks, rattles and teethers, sippy cups and bath towels.

Junior League member Lorinda Wilson said HANDS has reached out to their organization over the years with different needs.

“They do such good work here in our community with women and children, which is the focus of Junior League,” Gilbert said. “We wanted to continue helping them.”

The fundraiser will be held at Lil Bit Sassy, located in downtown Owensboro at 125 West Second Street. The donation drive and pictures with Santa will take place Saturday from 1-4 p.m.

According to its website, HANDS supports families as they build healthy, safe environments that promote optimal growth and development of children. HANDS is a home visiting program for pregnant moms-to-be and new parents that supports all areas of a baby’s development. The organization will help new and pregnant families throughout the first two years of a child’s life.

Those in the local area who are interested in enrolling for HANDS support can do so by reaching out to the Daviess County Health Department, located at 1600 Breckinridge Street. Enrollment must take place during pregnancy or when one’s baby is less than three months old.
