The first McLean County death related to COVID-19 was reported by the Green River District Health Department on Sunday morning. No new coronavirus cases were announced in Daviess County or the surrounding area.
The McLean County resident was an 85-year-old female who died had been hospitalized at Baptist Health Madisonville. It was the second COVID-19 death reported in the GRDHD area — the previous one was a Daviess County resident.
The total number of cases reported in the Green River District is now 91. As of Sunday morning, 13 people in the district were currently hospitalized. Patients range in age from 20-85, with an average age of 52.
Three additional previously confirmed cases are now reported as recovered — one each in Daviess, Henderson, and Union counties. The total recovered cases in the district are now 23 — 19 in Daviess County, three in Henderson County and one in Union County.
Daviess County now has 58 total patients who have tested positive, Henderson County has 15, Ohio County has five, McLean has four and Hancock County has two. Other counties in the district with confirmed cases are Union (4) and Webster (3).
“In the days and weeks ahead we expect to see more new cases and an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations” said Clay Horton, GRDHD Public Health Director. “We all play a part in this effort and it is crucial we do everything we can. Stay home, avoid crowds and practice physical social distancing – staying at least 6 feet away from others. The lab—confirmed cases are only a portion of what is in the community. People must continue to be vigilant in helping stop the spread of COVID-19.”
