Owensboro’s Hallmark store will be closing in the near future and is currently offering big sales on products as owner Sharon Westenhofer prepares to retire. A final closing date has not yet been announced, as Westenhofer said it will depend on how business goes over the next several weeks.

The store is located at 2736 Frederica Street in Wesleyan Park Plaza.

Westenhofer decided to close both her Owensboro and Louisville Hallmark stores after 51 years in the business. According to a release, Westenhofer first became a Hallmark retailer in 1971.

“For generations, Mark’s/Sher’s Hallmark stores have been known to be that warm fuzzy place you found in your neighborhood with just the right card that expressed your passions to people you love,” Westenhofer said. “Since 1971, personal communication has come a long way. Our commitment to you has always been to be ‘the very best’ at fulfilling those written word needs.”

Westenhofer expressed appreciation to Hallmark’s customers and employees over the years.

“I truly have been blessed and I cherish every minute I have had with you. I hope I can give back in some way in my retirement years ahead.”
