Update: OMU officials said the boil advisory has been lifted officially as of 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Earlier today contractors working on KY 54 as part of the widening of that roadway struck a main owned by the Daviess County Water District serving that area, according to Owensboro Municipal Utilities. Water pressure has been affected for some OMU customers, and a Boil Water Advisory was issued for the area.

Work is underway to repair that main and stop the leak. According to a 10:30 a.m. update from OMU, “Pressure should be restored within a few hours.”

A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for customers served by OMU in The Springs area. Customers will be notified by door hangers at their home or business this afternoon. If your home or business experienced a drop in water pressure as a result of this issue, you will be included in this Boil Water Advisory.

As a precautionary measure, all water used for drinking or food preparation should be brought to a rolling boil for 3 minutes. This advisory has been issued out of an abundance of caution and affected customers will be notified when it is lifted, according to OMU.

For additional questions, call OMU at 270-926-3200 and select Option 5.
