DCSO: Robbery, Sexual Assault at Panther Creek Park Wednesday morning

Christopher Gerlach, 48, was taken into custody at the Daviess County Detention Center Wednesday morning on two felony charges after allegedly assaulting a young female at Panther Creek Park, according to Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

At 10:32 a.m. on Wednesday, DCSO responded to a call at the park where a young female was walking on the nature trails and was then cornered by an older male. After she was advised that he held what she believed to be a gun to her face and then proceeded to touch her sexually under her clothing.

The man then took her cell phone and fled on foot before leaving the area in a dark Prius, according to the report.

DCSO said they were able to locate a similar vehicle driving on KY 81 with a man that matched the victim’s description.

According to DCSO, a gun was not recovered in the suspect’s vehicle, and the cell phone was recovered elsewhere in the park.

Gerlach is being charged with 1st-degree robbery and 1st-degree sexual abuse.
