Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine on Friday broke ground on its new location in the former Kmart building in Wesleyan Park Plaza. Officials hope to open the doors in the heart of town in October 2023.

Owner Charles Milem emphasized they will be able to have increased clinical space, ample parking, and the ability to increase the rehab space at the new facility.

“We’re hoping within a year we’re going to be in and it’s going to greatly expand our ability to serve this community,” Milem said.

By utilizing the facility’s tall ceilings, they will be adding a second floor strictly for office spaces, which will enable the first floor to be dedicated entirely to orthopedic equipment.

Advanced will also be expanding their walk-in clinics and services. They will be adding an MRI that will be state of the art with increased magnet size and increased quality of images.

Their location at 2831 New Hartford Road will remain open while their new location is being built.

Patients in need of specialized orthopedic care are encouraged to call the practice at 270-926-4100 to schedule an appointment at their current location.

The local orthopedic institution was established in 1962 and has expanded and evolved over the last 60-plus years, and it’s now an eight-doctor practice.
