A 68-year-old Utica man was arrested after shooting at an occupied home multiple times Monday, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. One of the residents was struck by a glass shard.

According to a release, deputies responded to a firearm discharge in the 3900 block of Ronnie Lake Road at approximately 1:17 p.m. Monday.

“Upon arrival, deputies discovered a gunshot through the glass door of this residence and lodging in a wall of the residence, while three of the residents were inside, one being struck by glass shard,” the release reads. The resident struck by the shard refused medical treatment at that time.

Per the release, the residence owner advised that her neighbor, Richard Yeckering, “had been outside shooting his gun the entire morning” in the direction of their home when they heard one of the rounds shatter the glass of their basement door.

DCSO located Yeckering, a semi-automatic handgun, and several spent rounds on Yeckering’s property. He is currently being held at the Daviess County Detention Center.
