The 149th running of the Kentucky Derby did not disappoint, with Mage coming from behind for a narrow win. Confidence Game, a horse owned in part by Owensboro couple Robert and Katie Edge, was near the front of the pack for much of the race but finished 10th.

The Edges are part of the ownership group associated with Don’t Tell My Wife Stables, which is based out of Texas.

Once standing at 29:1 odds, Confidence Game exited the gate at 20:1. His winning performance at Ocean Reef’s Rebel Stakes prompted many to adjust their wagers in his favor.

Confidence Game darted out of the gate and held with the early pack for much of the race before tiring at the end.

In a previous story by the Owensboro Times, which can be read here, Robert Edge discussed what the experience meant to him and his family.

“This is an absolute dream come true,” Edge said. “God has blessed my wife and me with this wonderful experience – we are very excited.”

Edge and the Don’t Tell My Wife Stables team entered the race with positive thoughts.

“We feel great, and we’re very excited,” he said. “We have an awesome trainer in Keith Desormeaux, and we fully trust what he’s doing. Confidence Game has a fantastic team surrounding him.”
