First United named to national 2024 ‘Best Banks To Work For’ list

First United Bank and Trust Company has once again been named to American Banker’s “Best Banks to Work For” list, marking the third year in a row for the achievement. First United ranked No. 26 nationwide and No. 20 in banks with assets less than $3 billion.

Jason Hawkins, President/CEO of First United Bank. “This award reflects the dedication and hard work of our team, who are truly the heart of everything we do. At First United, we remain focused on the success and well-being of our employees, customers, community partners, and our shareholders. Our employees continually go above and beyond to make a positive impact, and this recognition is a direct result of their commitment to service.”

Established in 1996, First United Bank has assets of $584.9 million with seven banking centers located in Madisonville, Earlington, Beaver Dam, Marion, and Owensboro. First United Bank currently employs 106 people. 

This year, 90 banks earned a spot in the ranking of Best Banks to Work For, based on an anonymous employee survey and a thorough review of the benefits and perks offered, according to a release.

“The Best Banks to Work For represent institutions helping employees achieve their goals,” said Chana Schoenberger, editor-in-chief of American Banker. “These banks recognize how important it is for their staffers to be happy about the work they do and the environment in which they spend their days.

Determining the Best Banks to Work For is a two-step process, according to the release. First, banks are evaluated on workplace policies, practices, and demographics, which accounted for 25% of the score. The second step assesses staff experiences and attitudes, making up 75% of the final score. Rankings are based on the combined results of both components.
