A 32-year-old Owensboro man was arrested Tuesday after refusing to stop for a detective and leading law enforcement on a chase through city streets, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the incident began around East 4th Street and Leitchfield Road, when an on-duty detective driving an unmarked law enforcement SUV said a gray pickup truck turned in front of him, forcing him to brake suddenly to avoid a collision.

Officials said the detective activated his emergency lights and siren to stop the driver — identified as Dillion Lewis Noffsinger — but Noffsinger refused to pull over. According to a DCSO release, Noffsinger continued onto East 6th Street, then south on Jackson Street, running multiple stop signs at East 8th and East 10th streets.

According to DCSO, Noffsinger accelerated rapidly over railroad tracks and made a sharp turn onto East 10th Street, driving into a parking lot where several pedestrians were present before returning to Jackson Street. Deputies said he finally stopped abruptly in the driveway of a home in the 900 block of Jackson Street.

Two female passengers reportedly exited the vehicle and told the detective they had repeatedly asked Noffsinger to stop. The detective ordered Noffsinger from the truck, and he was taken into custody without further incident, the release says.

Noffsinger was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center and faces multiple charges, including first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance (meth), disregarding stop signs, operating without a license, and failure to produce an insurance card.
