James Bernard Boone, 89, of Utica passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, surrounded by family, at his home. He was born September 15, 1935, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Bernard and Ona C. Davis Boone.
Mr. Boone had a long career in auto body repair. He worked for several businesses over the 53 years. These included John and Mac Cambron’s respective shops, Don Moore Automotive and Robert’s Motors, where he became body shop manager. He finished his career owning and operating his own shop. He thoroughly enjoyed time on his farm near Pleasant Ridge.
He was a longtime member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Boone was a man of integrity and had some favorite sayings. These include: “It’s not how much you make, it’s how you spend it.”, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.”, “Treat others as you would want to be treated.” He was also a steady man. It might take a while, but when there was a problem, Mr. Boone would study on it a while and come up with a solution.
James is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty P. (Kirk) Boone; children, Jimmy (Patti) Boone of Hartford, Jacqueline (Timmy) Hendricks of Bremen, Anita Mills of Jasper, IN and Bobby (Debbie) Boone of Utica; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Joyce; and a brother, Jackie (Linda) Boone of Whitesville, KY.
Arrangements will be private. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, 2906 Melrose Dr., Louisville, KY 40299 or Hospice of Ohio County, 1211 Old Main Street Hartford, KY 42347.
