The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation supports the proposed investment by Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) in our community, and requests immediate consideration and action by the City of Owensboro staff and commission to entertain the options available to retain this project in Owensboro-Daviess County.
The planned $50 million plus investment that creates a payroll of more than $7 million annually through more than 130 new jobs helps accomplish the direct mission of GOEDC to attract businesses and grow our economy. The location of this planned investment would provide a significant opportunity to revitalize the important retail corridor of South Frederica. These factors should compel our City of Owensboro leaders to put all available options on the next agenda for a vote.
