Letter to the Editor

Recently, many yard signs promoting the Harris-Walz campaign have either been destroyed or stolen in front yards around our community.

Not only is it obviously wrong to stifle political expression in a free and open democracy, but it’s downright criminal; it makes you wonder why. I think it’s because some people believe theirs is the only opinion that matters.

Campaigns are already entirely too expensive and therefore exclude many people’s voices (probably by design). Placing a campaign yard sign in one’s front yard is probably one of the biggest bang-for-the-buck things a person could do in order to make a political difference. So, let the little guy make a difference and not just abandon politics to the whims of millionaires and billionaires.

As for me, I’m just going to try to wear my Democratic Party T-shirt as much as possible — and hope no one tries to rip it off my back.
