Letter to the Editor

On election day, I had the privilege of serving as an election clerk at the Sportscenter, together with an election judge seated at the table with me. As each voter approached our table, we warmly greeted the voter, verified that they were qualified to vote, then assured that they received the proper ballot. It was a busy day of non-ending lines.

After the voting center closed, we reflected on our long day. We realized that we had been witnessing democracy in action. Many voters told us how great it was that so many people were voting. We also processed excited first-time voters. Some voters came with kids in tow, showing the youngsters how the voting process works. All in all, we both agreed that it had been a great day!

Many thanks to the County Board of Elections and County Clerk’s Office for their training and organization guaranteeing the citizens of Daviess County a safe, fair, and smooth election.
