This is a story in a series on local high school athletes signing to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level.
Daviess County senior Jasmine Beasley is taking her talents to Asbury University next season after helping the Lady Panthers to their first-ever 3rd Region Championship this season.
Beasley finished with 105 kills, 31 blocks, 37 digs and 8 aces during her final campaign at DC.
How does it feel to finally know where you’re going to attend next year and to make it official?
I am relieved to have finally found the correct fit for me. After looking at multiple schools, I am very happy I chose Asbury University.
Why did you choose the school you did?
I chose Asbury because I felt connected to the school. I believe it’s the perfect fit for me because they have everything I’ve been looking for in a school. I also didn’t want to go too far from home, and I feel like the location of Asbury is perfect for me and my family.
What stood out about the program and the coaches?
With the program, I feel as if the girls are pretty close. This stood out to me because they all seem to get together well and they overall play as a team, and I feel like I would fit in just fine with them. Coach Stowe is a great coach and is such a genuinely kind person. I knew he would be a good coach for me after watching them play for the first time.
What are you going to study?
Exercise Science Kinesiology and plan on becoming a Physical Therapist.
What are you going to miss about your team and school?
I will miss the bond we had with each other, as well as all the memories we have created over the years. Together we achieved a regional victory for my senior year, and that is a moment I will never forget. DCHS felt like home to me and I felt nothing less than welcomed. DC will forever be a part of who I am and where I came from.
