Boys soccer recap (Sept. 6): AHS, OHS

Apollo boys soccer suffered a tough road loss to open up the week, while Owensboro was on fire offensively in an impressive win over Muhlenberg County.

Apollo vs. Ohio County

The Eagles had their two-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, as they fell to Ohio County 3-2 on the road.

Senior Hsa Than grabbed the pair of goals for Apollo on the day, scoring both of them on penalty kicks. Senior keeper Steven Teran did his best to keep Ohio County off the board in the game, tallying three saves.

The Eagles fall to 4-6 overall with the loss, as they will take a day off before another road matchup against district foe Owensboro Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Owensboro vs. Muhlenberg County

The Red Devils were clicking on all cylinders Tuesday, dominating Muhlenberg County in a 8-0 offensive showcase.

Sophomore Ryan Sovar and junior Peter Saang led the way on the day, grabbing a pair of goals each while Sovar had two assists and Saang had one as well. Meanwhile, junior Arlo Johnson, junior Miles Baur, senior Aiden Frego and junior Sang Thang all had a goal each.

Baur had a pair of assists as well and Thang had one, while junior Alex Carpenter and sophomore Landon Black had a save each to help keep Muhlenberg County off the board. Owensboro now sits at 5-3-2 with the win, as they have a day off before taking on Daviess County for the second time this season at 7 p.m. on the road on Thursday.
