Daviess County’s Jasmine Parm and Madilyn Phelps gained valuable experience in the 2022 State Bowling Championships on Monday.

After qualifying with top-five finishes at the Region 1 Bowling Championships, Parm and Phelps both placed in the top-25 at state. Parm bowled a 179-166-141 to earn 21st overall, while Phelps followed closely behind at 23rd (143-190-151).

While Phelps didn’t finish exactly how she wanted, she felt that she gave it her all amongst some of the best bowlers the Commonwealth has to offer.

“I feel as if I bowled the best I could in the moment, and even though I fell short it was a great opportunity and I did the best I could,” Phelps said.

Phelps said it was very exciting and she’s grateful for the experience, because not many people get the chance to go to state at a young age. With her first state appearance under her belt, she’s excited to grow and be even stronger in the future.

“I have learned that I need to continue to work hard and improve,” Phelps said. “Because even though I struggled, I know that I can do better and I can’t wait to come back and hopefully lead my team.”
