Michael J. Huffines, a 45-year-old Owensboro man, has been arrested following a string of armed robberies at four convenience stores over the last several weeks, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to OPD, Huffines was charged Friday with four counts of first-degree robbery. He is being held at the Daviess County Detention Center.
OPD detailed each robbery as follows:
- Case # 22-869 – this armed robbery occurred at 4625 Frederica Street (Quality Quick) on Sunday, January 9th, 2022.
- Case # 22-4204 – this armed robbery occurred at 2630 West Parrish Avenue (Quality Quick) on Sunday, February 6th, 2022.
- Case # 22-4877- this armed robbery occurred at 3815 Carter Road (Quality Quick) on Friday, February 11th, 2022.
- Case # 22-5169 – this armed robbery occurred at 1720 Leitchfield Road (Quality Convenience) on Sunday, February 13th, 2022.
“Detectives spent numerous hours interviewing individuals, collecting evidence and canvassing neighborhoods throughout these investigations,” a release from OPD reads. “Probable cause was established that led to a search warrant being obtained and executed on the residence of Mr. Huffines. During the execution of this search warrant, additional evidence was collected linking Mr. Huffines to each of these crimes.”
