The Owensboro Thoroughbreds couldn’t finish off a comeback victory against the Indiana All-Americans on Sunday, falling in their home opener 107-104.
The Thoroughbreds had struggled to maintain a lead in the game, but had found a way to bounce back from their 11-point deficit to knot things up at 90-90 with six minutes to play. However, Indiana would not be denied the victory thanks to an advantage in points off of turnovers and second chance points.
The All-American won those categories 26-20 and 21-16, while Taishaun Johnson was their leading scorer with 25 points. They had four other players finish in double figures as well.
Darhius Nunn led Owensboro with 25 points in the game, while Jaiveon Eaves (19), Davon Hays (17), Marty Hill (16) and Montel James (12) all finished in double figures as well.
Sitting at 4-2 overall on the season, the Thoroughbreds will look to bounce back when they hit the road again to take on the Kokomo Bobkats at 7 p.m. on Friday. Owensboro’s next home game will be against the Indiana All-Americans once again, playing at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 8.
