Big second day propels Men’s Golf at Northern Kentucky

Competing against multiple NCAA DI opponents at The Jewell in Batavia, Oh., the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers carded a team score of 299 on day two to jump St. Francis (Pa.) and take 7th in the event. 

Freshman Camden Robertson played lights out, tying for 11th place with a two-day total of 147 (+5). Tyler Nickol finished just two strokes behind Robertson with a 149 (+7) to tie for 18th. Robertson and Nickol were the top two non-DI finishers in the tournament.

After struggling on day one, Jonah Graham came alive on day two and carded a 74 to finish in a tie for 43rd with a 155 (+13). Evan Beery carded scores of 78 on both days to place 48th with a 156 (+14), and carded the Panther’s only eagle of the round with a chip-in on the par-4 sixth hole. Evan Schumacher rounded out the scoring with a 167 (+25). 

Youngstown State won the even with a two-day total of 578 (+10) while Chicago State’s Camron Jones carded a 140 (-2) to take medalist honors.

The Panthers will be back in action later this week when they take part in the G-MAC Championships on Friday-Saturday of this week. It will be a 54-hole tournament and will take place at the Big Blue Golf Club in Lexington, KY.
