Mary Bruce “Brucie” Beard, age 94 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away April 13, 2022 at Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility. She was born in Jeffersonville, IN on November 7, 1927, daughter of the late Cyrus Herndon and Sylvia Marguerite Hooper Moorman. Brucie was the former owner, editor and publisher of The Breckinridge County Herald News. She was a retired member of the Board of Directors with Brandenburg Telcom and River City Bank as well as the Hardinsburg City Council. She had a beautiful voice and was a former soloist with her church which is the Hardinsburg Baptist Church. Brucie enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jesse T. Beard, Sr., son Jesse T. Beard, Jr., daughter Nancy Lou Beard, sister Margaret Dowell and brothers Neil, Bob and Ken Moorman.
Brucie is survived by 3 daughters: Sylvia Anne Haft (David) of Hamilton, OH; Martha Bruce Beard of Hardinsburg, KY and Sallie Beard of Lewisport, KY
3 grandchildren: John, Bruce and Sallie Stith
1 great granddaughter: Elizabeth Carneal (Garrett)
1 sister: Pat Napier of Hardinsburg, KY

A service to celebrate Brucie’s life will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 11 AM with burial in the Ivy Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, 5-8 PM and Tuesday after 8:30 AM. All times are central.
