Panthers suffer road loss to Ohio Dominican

The Kentucky Wesleyan College football team fell 65-7 on the road Saturday at Ohio Dominican University.

Ohio Dominican pounced early, putting up 14 points in the first quarter. Five touchdowns in the second quarter allowed the ODU to take a 51-0 lead to the break.

Wesleyan got on the board in the fourth quarter on a 22-yard reception by Derek Barnes from Dessi Austin. Barnes had four catches on the drive for 52 yards.

Ohio Dominican was held to 7 points in the final frame, but Wesleyan was unable to overcome the first-half deficit.

Austin finished with nine catches for 108 yards and the only touchdown. Barnes hauled in five catches for 67 yards, and De’Ondre Boggs added 58 yards on nine receptions.

Armand Childs and Jalen Humphrey led the defense with eight tackles each. Alijah McGhee and RJ Wilson recorded seven tackles each, Devyn Bledsoe had one sack, and Moe Carter finished with one interception.

The Panthers return to action next week in their final game of the 2018 season. Wesleyan stays on the road to take on Alderson Broaddus University in the G-MAC Founders Cup, with kickoff slated for 11 a.m. Saturday.
