Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church will be hosting a prayer service in honor of, and in gratitude for, all first responders from 3-4 p.m. this Sunday. All law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel and their families are invited, as well as members of the community.
Ashley M. Wilkerson, stewardship minister at Sts. Joseph and Paul (located at 609 East 4th Street), said there will be a loose format to the event. There will be led prayers, readings and music.
All of the first responders will also be able to come forward and write their name in a book of prayer “so that we can keep each one of them, by name, in our prayers,” according to Wilkerson.
“We thought that 9/11 would be a good time to recognize our local first responders and law enforcement and medical personnel,” Wilkerson said. “They just do so much for our community. First responders have been big in Kentucky this year with the floods and tornadoes. We just felt like it would be a good thing to honor their work and their dedication to our community.”
